Stress of Getting up early in the Morning and Joy of Morning Walk

Stress of Getting up early in the Morning and

Joy of Morning Walk

WAKE UP EARLY AND TACKLE THE DAY BEFORE IT TACKLES YOU.

― EVAN CARMICHAEL

What is “early morning” different people define it differently, however, normally it is defined as between 05.00 A.M. to 08.00 A.M. Indian scriptures define it as from 03.00 A.M. to sunrise and term it as “Amritvela” the period when nature showers Nectar on its creations. In Hindu marriages, previously, the tying of the knot the “Seven Pheras” used to take place invariably between 02.30 to 04.30 in the morning, although this has changed due to Covid and also due to so called modern liberal attitude of the people still they like to say “good bye” send off or “Bidayee” to their daughter in shadow of the stars early morning. Similarly the best time for meditation is considered to be between 04.00 to 06.00 AM even by the scriptures. It is my observation in life that even in hospitals most of the regular surgeries are performed in the morning only. Early morning has most positivity in the atmosphere with ringing bells and recitation from scriptures in all religious places and also from the people who do worship and meditation: even otherwise most of the mature people utter name of the Lord as soon as they get up from the bed: so atmosphere is full of the name of the Lord and He does listens and showers His blessings on His creations man being one of them: the rising Sun brings hope for everybody: it is time for action and harvesting too so get up early in the morning and have blessings of the nature.

"A morning walk gives the body a chance to forgive the trials and tribulations of yesterday, to shed its rubbish and mental clutter."                                           Terri Guillemets.

In addition, getting up early in the morning provides more time for your own self, exercise, morning walk, yoga, meditation, enjoying the breakfast instead of gobbling it up: makes you punctual with lesser time in traffic congestion. People who are early to rise are normally early to bed also which means better, sound and full sleep this leads to better overall health, lesser ailments, balance in life and are able to bear stress better.

"I love walking because it clears your mind, enriches the soul, takes away stress, and opens up your eyes to a whole new world."                                                -Claudette Dudley.

Despite so much about getting up early in the morning many people do not leave the bed early even after so many alarm bells on the mobile lying near one’s head. Obviously alarm bells have nothing to do with rising early in the morning. It is one’s determination, character, habits and life style that matter most. Of these determination is most important: once a person is determined to rise early, other things can be corrected. Some people do not have alarm bells still the reach the railway station well before the scheduled time of the train, there are other who do not use alarms at all but catch the fights at 02.00 A. M. It happens because they are determined and there is motivation: also the stress of losing the purpose and the money too.

Lose an hour in the morning you will be all the day hunting for it.                                                           Richard Whatley

So first of all be determined and then we can build up. Things which you do again and again becomes a habit. Start with just 15 minutes earlier than the time you wake up this day, push it just 5 minutes every day and within fifteen days you would be 01.25 hrs early. Some life style changes are also called for like switch off the mobile, computer and TV early: take light and less spiced food for dinner and avoid late night dinner: let it happen between 07.30 to 08.30 PM: be positive and last but most important thing a prayer to the Lord while lying in the bed itself just for a few minutes. All these things will help you to have sound sleep and as soon as you have enough of sleep your body will speak; listen the voice of silence and get up from your bed and free yourself from the natural routine: have a cup of tea, coffee or just warm water to wake up your body as well and let your system be ready for the day.

Use the morning time as purposefully as you like: students use it to do their lessons because freshness of mind leads to better concentration; some use it for yoga others for meditation and still others for exercise to keep themselves fighting fit and fine. Household ladies use it for difficult home chores. Still many oldies, retirees and spent forces use this wonderful time for morning walk simply because their body can tolerate only this simply and time tested exercise.

"Walking: the most ancient exercise and still the best modern exercise."                                            -Carrie Latet.

Many think where to go for walk in the morning: no need to bother, go to a neighborhood Park as big as possible; let it be next Door Park if nothing nearby. Greenery anywhere has its own charm: it freshens one’s eyes, it is said seeing greenery improves ones eyesight; early morning breeze freshens body; dew on the grass is good to see and walk thereon: some walk bare feet on the grass: you will see some picking particular type of grass as an offering to the Lord. Appearance of the new leaves, buds and flowers give joy and happiness. Fruit on a tree or a creeper is a sight to see and enjoy. While walking one also meets colourful sparrows and squirrels they are good to watch and would take you awake away to the world of thoughts from where you are and when you are walking there itself. Some crows are total black and doves are grey. Pigeons are a common sight and feeding them is a religious activity with many people. You may notice birds drink water before taking grains that what one should also do. Take water before taking anything solid in the morning and if it is lukewarm better it is. Butterflies are colourful do not catch them enjoy their colours and flutter.  Many a times these parks and garden are near the religious places, if you happen to be in such a place enjoy the devotional songs and prayers too; pay your obeisance to the Lord and be blessed; you can do this while continuing your walk. One can also sit in some secluded corner for meditation or be with your own self. Count your steps rather it should start from the time you entered that garden and you can also count your minutes, smart phones have given you the choice of both, leave at appointed time as some body is waiting for you at the dining table for a healthy breakfast like oats, corn flakes, milk and do not deprive yourself of occasional prantha with butter and pickle of course with butter milk.

"Look deep into nature and you will understand everything better."                                                           -Albert Einstein.

"In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks."                                                                   -John Muir.

On your way back you may also like to visit a grocery shop, dairy and or a milk shop for requirements at home. Select the best possible most coloured vegetables full of vitamins, fiber and other constituents of a balanced diet, talk to the vegetables touch them and feel their freshness and tenderness but buy only the skimmed milk and or the butter milk, let the bread be brown or multigrain a modern day health wonder easily available.

On your way and return to home wish everybody whom you meet whether he known to you or not known, get blessing if you are junior and good wishes if you are senior. Do not limit the words while blessing others, let it be from the core of your heart and sumptuous. Smile to everybody, smile gets a smile and be happy. A positive chit-chat with all those who understand you is something golden which all depends on your good sense and of course the behavior.

Before going to the dining table wash your hands and face too as pollution outside cannot leave us: he is a permanent partner of our life. Enjoy your breakfast like a prince with your loved ones: do not mind if you are single or the time has made you so. Be happy with your lot and enjoy the day like a communist “from everybody according to his capacity and to everybody as per his need” i.e. enjoy your lunch only to the extent it is needed and at the dinner time behave like a pauper eat quantity and quality wise as much as is the minimum to survive.

See how beautiful has been the morning a foundation for the purposeful day, why to feel stressed; why to be in the bed for a long time, leave the bed with a jump and just start enjoying.

"An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day."

Stress of Obesity and Joy of losing some Weight

                     Stress of Obesity and

Joy of losing some Weight

Obesity affects every aspect of a people's lives, from health to relationships.

Jane Velez-Mitchell

Blue, black, blue-black, grey, navy blue, dark grey and few other trousers that I had with the waists of 38”, 40” and 42” ; tried before going to my native place; but none could fit the measurement of my waist which had gone well beyond 44”. Practically, I was trousers less-having so many but none that I could wear. I was shocked and perplexed too. What to do and what not to do. Took my best six trousers to my tailor master and told him to increase their waist to 44”, he promptly replied that he can increase to the extent the cloth is available in each pant and he would charge Rs.300 per trouser; it was another shock to me so much money for just increasing the waist. Initially, I agreed but as soon as I came back home my wife said we can purchase two pants with Rs.1800: why to spend so much that too on old clothes I went back to the tailor and brought back all my trousers without any alteration. Hence new clothes was the only alternative available to me. My wife and son prevailed upon me to purchase at least one jean instead of a regular trouser. We went to a shop stocking branded clothes and asked for a jean with 44” waist – perhaps the widest available with the shop. After a lot of haggling with my wife, son and shopkeeper I purchased one pair of jeans which was more a baggy than the jean and also purchased a regular trouser that too looked like a baggy. I felt embarrassed wearing these clothes. Jean was too heavy it was almost one and half kilogram. There was no way out I had to wear as it was all a creation of my belly fat perhaps over eating and my life style was at fault – taking tea when someone else in the family wanted to have tea etc. It was so embarrassing, had to keep my clam, had no arguments left with me. All my suits had been rendered useless. I was under lot of stress.

“Giving up processed food, sugar, soda and get into an exercise routine, like cardio and strength training, will change people’s body.”                                             — Adele

I went to my native place to meet my youngest brother who was having some issues with his digestion, acidity etc. He told that after taking Ayurvedic medicine with the advice and treatment of Ayurvedic Doctor, the issue had been settled and he was happy. So I told him to take me to that Doctor as I am having number of issue which in simple language translate to Asthma, hypertension and heart missing some beats.

Doctor examined me well and asked for some pathological tests which were got done promptly and after examining the reports he prescribed some Ayurvedic medicines that would help me to keep asthma under check. He assured that slowly he would help me to stop taking so many tablets of medicine.  While he was being consulted I asked him to how to reduce my waistline. He promptly said let the asthma be under control then he would deal all the issues one by one: gave me medicine for one month. While we were having a chit chat he mentioned that I should take a cup of hot water and sip it slowly twice or thrice a day that is Amrit - Nectar for all the issues I was facing: I felt impressed: it was medicine without being medicine that too free.

I took his medicine and felt slight relief in my asthma, in addition I took his advice for hot water seriously. I started taking hot water sip as first thing in the morning even before the morning tea. Then took hot water tea-hot after every meal-breakfast, lunch and dinner. These days I try to ensure to take at least five cups of hot water daily. Even for taking my regular allopathic medicine I use warm water only. Of late I have started taking green tea also. Same tea leaves are used two-three times during the day. I felt effect of this exercise that it reduced my digestion problems like any thing: intake of medicine and tonic for digestive system reached minimum and for day together there was no need at all. It also helped me in bowel movement and made me regular: only once a day that too early in the morning as soon as I get up. It also increased freshness in the body as well as the movement became easy.

With above gain; I took care of my diet both in terms of quality as well as in quantity. Reduced intake of sugar by limiting the quantity of all sweets, jaggery, ice-cream, cola and all other things containing sugar, fats, reduced fried food to the minimum etc. but did not deny anything to myself.

Munching between the meals is a great source of weight gain. Opening of refrigerator again and again is very dangerous for one’s health and obesity: as soon as one opens the fridge there is temptation waiting to take something nice and cold like a little cube of cheese, a bite of ice-cream, a slice of a fruit, a whole Rasogulla or Gulab Jamun (the great Indian sweets), if nothing then a sip of cold milk, lassi, something sweet or otherwise or a cola sip. All these things go to one’s belly when there is neither hunger nor thirst nor any need of body; these unwanted calories add fat and weight to one’s body. Another thing that was adding weight to my body was my habit of tasting every prepared in the kitchen before it was served I, therefore, tried to mend my ways in respect of all these items.

Obesity is the direct result of inactivity and poor food choices.

                                                                                 Ryan Miller

Calorie count; some say is useless exercise: yes it is, if you unable to control you taste buds: otherwise you have to create deficit between calories used and calories consumed. Calories used should always be more than the calories consumed. You must have the rough idea of the calories being taken in with every item you consumes. One must reduce chapattis that are full of carbohydrates and the calories. I reduced the intake to just one Parantha (Punjabis can’t do without it) with least possible butter in the morning and one chapatti for lunch and dinner each without butter if possible: always tried to avoid deep, even shallow fried items.

Another thing about these three meals is limited amount of pulses but rich amount of green vegetables, now I never allow my stomach to feel the weight of the meals. I stop before it starts to be heavy.

By eating many fruits and vegetables in place of fast food and junk food, people could avoid obesity.

                                                                      David H. Murdock

Another thing that I added to my routine is exercise. At the age 77+ no one can afford weight exercises or going to gym or a swift walk or running at a good speed or jogging in the real sense aerobatics etc. We have to avoid morning smog also. So I devised for myself a morning walk in a good sunshine and an evening walk before dark; also at a pace which my body could tolerate. However, I took advantage of the modern technology: got added to my smart mobile Samsung Health App to count my steps. Initially 7000 steps in a day was the target which was subsequently increased to 11000 steps about 7000 steps in the morning and about 4000 steps in the evening. Every effort was made to reach the target keeping in view the #Covid conditions, on some occasion it was missed too.

“When people tell me they can’t afford to join a gym, I tell them to go outside; planet Earth is a gym and we’re already members. Run, climb, sweat, and enjoy all of the natural wonder that is available to you.”

                                                                       – Steve Maraboli

SID (Self Imposed Discipline), self-denial and determination are the three fundamentals of any campaign. I do not claim much of these principles for myself, but a little effort on my part did help me take steps to control my intake. Another important thing do not be in a hurry nobody can lose weight in a day or so it is a patient process, be as regular and cautious as far possible and then one can make possible the “impossible”.

"You didn't gain all your weight in one day; you won't lose it in one day. Be patient with yourself."

                                                                                                                                  Jenna Wolfe

After following the above for almost four months one evening I was to go the market so I decided to put on my 44” jean rather baggy. I took it from my cupboard and in my heart of hearts said to myself will I never be able to wear other trousers in the cupboard. I picked a pant with 40” waist to my surprise I was able to close the buttons and hooks with ease. I was just jumping with joy. I was checking again and again whether the waist of my trouser was 40” or 44”. I think loss of weight was perhaps three four kilograms only. It was a big relief. Now my aim is simple to maintain the weight and the waist and if He granted to reduce my waist and weight further.

moderately, cultivate cheerfulness, and maintain an interest

Stress of what I could not learn from my parents and Joy of what they taught me

Stress of what I could not learn from my parents and

Joy of what they taught me

Parents are the ultimate role models for children. Every word, movement and action has effect. No other person or outside force has greater influence on a child than the parent.

 Bob Keeshan

The Lord has been great and benevolent that when I was born; had the hands of my grandparents and parents waiting for my arrival: had the privilege of enjoying love and affection of both. I remember my grandfather had nick named me as “Ach” the smaller version of “Achhar” my childhood name and while coming back from his job in Diwankhanna (Mini Secretariat of the King) he used to bring without fail for me, “Sangtare Ki Goli” (Orange Candy) still available in the market if one intends to find: those were days neither of toffees nor of chocolates as at present, ice-cream too was unknown; however, the milk ice (Burf as it was called) sold wrapped in warm cloth was a delicacy available now and then, our “Baba” used to buy for us. “Baba” was fond of “Double Roti” whole bread not sliced as at present: he used to buy for us from an early morning hawker “Goloo”.

“One of the greatest titles in the world is a parent, and one of the biggest blessings in the world is to have parents to call mom and dad.”

                                                                           – Jim DeMint

My grandfather a man of happiness: always saw him excited whenever we visited him, was alive till I was twenty five years of age. He passed away in a most peaceful manner, he became aware of his end an hour before he died: no disease etc. he just passed away. This was beginning of the end of an era in our family. Now nobody left whom to call “Baba”.

My grandmother was a wonderful cook. Corn maize Chapattis made by her used to be very soft, yellow in colour and rich in crystalized butter and the “Whole Moong Dal” a delicacy: which used to thick enough one could eat by placing it on the chapatti instead in the plate. She used to wait for our visit and till then she would collect pure yellow cow crystalized butter (Desi Ghee). She was a highly wrinkled face, lean but always straight in her posture. She left for her heavenly abode when I was thirty two years old. This closed the chapter of grandparents “Baba and Bebe” for all of us.

Then came the darkest night when my father a gem personality and my shelter, guide and philosopher for all issues and fears; while on a visit to my place passed in peace away before our eyes and we three brothers although present then were not aware as to what was happening. His death was confirmed by one of our friends.  It was when I was in thirty seventh year.

My mother lived long for about thirty years after the passing away of my father. God was gracious enough to give me love and affection of my mother even after I had superannuated from Govt service at the age of sixty: she went to the Lord at the age of 96 years ten years younger to her mother our Nani who passed away at the age of 106 years. Her death was the last chapter of the persons whom we could call “Mom and Dad”, “Bebe and Baiji”.

Obviously these pious noble souls had overwhelming effect on my personality, habits and character.  I remember them all with all the respects, regards and humility at my command. They are in my veins rather in all of us.

When I opened my eyes to the surroundings, I had never seen my parents still sleeping in the morning. Both were early risers and they continued to be so till they departed, grateful to them that I inherited that habit and till date I have not lost this gem of habits.

Invariably, in the early morning they were found attending to those household duties which were hard enough like fetching water for home either from a nearby community well and subsequently from public hydrant as piped water came to the city in early sixties only: or washing clothes a tough job in city of water scarcity or cleaning grains before grinding etc. Another excellent thing about my parents was, they themselves used to do all difficult chores early in the morning before children got up. I was amply blessed with this habit and it helped me during my education days particularly when I was doing my commerce graduation nature prompted me to take advantage of this habit of my parents: I used to study in the morning getting up at about 04.00 A.M. and then doing my lessons.

When I came to understand the things: I saw my father working as Octroi Muharer (Clerk) in the Municipal Committee Bathinda; one of the most humble position in the local body: obviously with the humble wages too. He was a very content person always happy with what Lord showered on him and never went astray for collecting wealth or earning more or working outside official working hours. I do not know much about me but I have always remained within my means and have never bothered as to what others possess.

My father had postings at different check posts in the city and he was always happy with his job. He was sometimes given odd duties at odd hours too. I never saw him grumbling about any posting. Now when I see in retrospective, in my long service of about forty years with the Government, I enjoyed every posting that came my way. A never requested for any particular posting. This I owe to his genes and I was known in my office that he can push on anywhere with anybody, it put me in such a comfortable position.

During twenty five years when both of my grandparents were alive, and thereafter also when my grandmother was alive  I never saw my father arguing or replying back to his parents on any matter, he simply said “yes” to whatever was the “order”. “Obey” was rule of the home. I do not claim much but still I can say that I never argued with my father on any matter and it is one great quality that has got passed on even to the next generation too. It was perhaps in his genes and blessing too.

My parents were persons of good health, they had no life style diseases, I never saw my father ailing except on the last day when he left this planet on heavenly journey. This also we inherited, however, with the modern life style we have developed some common diseases, but still even at 77+ I am quite active. This is my parents’ blessings.

My mother had good broad physique and was never afraid of hard labour simply because her parents were farmers with a good number of milch animals at home so childhood milk was in her veins and bones. Bodily, I did not inherit that good physique but I did inherit quality of hard labour that stood me in good stead when I was posted in a supervising position for the first time in my department.

My father was a “meet and greet” personality: so known almost to whole the business community of the town despite he was at a humble position in the local body. This trait helped me a lot in my official career where I was known to all the seniors despite they belonged to a different services and this helped me to tackle many important issues.

Family is the first school for young children and parents are the powerful models.

                                                                 Alice Sterling Honig

My father was a man of humble economic resources and also a man with no relations as he was the only surviving child of his parents. My grandfather had a sister but no brother so practically my father was a relation less man but had lot of confidence in his day to day life. This has taught all of us how to depend on our own self with effort and resources and seldom depend on others.

My father was a person of cool temperament, never reacted even in times of highest provocation. This excellent quality perhaps none of us inherited. My mother was slightly aggressive and all of us to some degree or the other inherited it well, with splashes of cool temperament here and there.

Since the economic resources in our home were limited, all the facilities and living necessities were need based. These circumstances made all of us to learn unknowingly the great principle of “self-denial” which was most applied by my mother to herself and to a lesser extent to my father as he was required to go to office and move in the town too in discharge of his official duties. They tried to provide to all of us what was possible within the means. This principle has kept all of us away from the vices and the financial entanglements.

My mother a pillar of strength to my respected father, helped family firstly by managing the show within the family resources, she also supplemented resources of the family by using her talent, skill and learning. She used to spin cotton and weave cotton carpets too for a price. Her labour blessed the family with good health and also all the brides that came to our family helped their respect nuclear families by supplementing their resources either by earning or managing their households well and it is the blessings of our parents that none of us went astray as the saying is well earned money fructifies with flavor and grabbed money destroys everything with pungent foul smell.

My mother did not know reading and writing however in her old age she had learnt how to sign when she used to get her family pension. My father was knowing Punjabi and Urdu languages perhaps without formal education. Despite this handicap they were fully aware of importance of the education and gave us all the possible facilities that all of us went to a school, a college or a training institute  and at the same time they gave us the freedom to do what we could and many could achieve good heights in their official career.

Do not handicap your children by making their lives easy.                                                        Robert A. Heinlein

My parents were persons of simple eating habits: morning breakfast “Hazari” as it was known to us at that time was that of  “missi roti” “Chopri” (breakfast of gram and wheat chapatti buttered one side) cooked with water on both sides on fire wood, with homemade pickle of mango or lemon, tea or Lassi sometimes with Thandai a dry fruit and herbs drink that keeps body cool during summer: lunch of a vegetable, chapattis and raw onion and dinner with single lentil different variety every day of course with Tadka and humble homemade Chatni; many a times with seasonal fruit mango or musk melon. Chapattis were there every time sometimes Tandoori too. Rice was a delicacy cooked now and then, particularly when some guest was to come. We are seven; six brothers and one sister and have fundamentally adopted the same pattern of day to day food. However, times have now changed for the better with more variety at all the three meals. I am grateful to my parents that we have maintained three meals a day with almost the same menu despite a change in the social set up and online  availability of food rather junk  western and American food.

My mother was also an excellent cook and addition of love and affection made her dishes tastier and nutritious. Her dishes were simple, authentic, nutritious and cost effective too. In our family we were required to help our mother in her household chores with the result that many of us learnt how to make chapattis and cook vegetables. I am one of those lucky persons who know cooking, it is pleasure and hobby too.

Devotion and dedication to their job and family are the words that can sum up the personality of my parents. Whatever came their way they managed it well maintaining their self-respect above everything and exhibiting the same when need be.

My greatest regret has been that I could not serve my father the way I wanted perhaps that is what the will of the Lord was as he went to him before the prosperity came to us the way we are at present.

Stress and Joy of Romance at75+

Stress and Joy of Romance at75+

                         When you love simply love.

Osho,

Respect yourself, love yourself, because there has never been a person like you and there never will be again.

Osho

Romance is the most romantic word ever coined in the English language: it makes the bells to ring without the bells; it is an excitement unto himself; it is motivation to reach, to bluff, to spend,

to groom, to do, to be alone, to be sensitive, to promise, to enjoy, to possess, to perform, to see which no one else can see, to talk which others can’t hear and be one and so many other things impossible to name and even imagine. It is magic supreme. It makes one to jump from a cozy quilt in cold winter morning may be of Ladakh and in hot summer noon to walks miles in hot burning sand of desert even of  Thar or Sahara. It is a wonder nobody else sees, but makes one fresh, vibrant and jumping from inside. It is something new and special for everyone every time always. Still there are others who define it as a love affair between a male and a female always sweet. One may say whatever he likes but it is the most wonderful aspect of human existence on this blue planet, it is godly, natural, universal and omnipresent.

Romance was born even before the day the Universe came into existence; there has been “urge to create” active in the space the greatest of the creators and a repository of all seeds of creation and is still creating much beyond the imagination of human mind and thinking. It the “Braham” as per Hindu scriptures, the fountain of all creations anywhere and everywhere, was so intense that once it started to create there is nothing to stop. “Urge to create” is romance and it has created such a beautiful identity which we with limited knowledge and wisdom call it world, its creations are infinite and beautiful.

Nature creates and initially it created without the “seed” the most imaging things the greatest wonders ever heard. It is most surprising that most beautiful creatures came into existence without the “seed”. It is only He can do.  Now there is seed for everything as we see and know, but what the nature is still creating and would create in future cannot be guessed perhaps it would continue to follow its old path of creation without a seed and something new and fresh.

Such a wonderful phenomenon; how the humans can remain away from it, when they themselves are part of the Universe and the “beyond” not named so far. Romance is in the veins of everything that is alive and non-living too, like soil, even desert creates beautiful red coloured silky insects humans like to touch: “Veerbouti” in Pubjabi language, life is there in the dark cold depths of sea and also on snow clad minus temperature peaks of Alps and Himalayas. Life is just one thing that emanates from romance.

Man the exceptional creation resembling the Lord as we perceive, is unique, every person is unique so creations of everybody are also unique and every person recognizes this knowingly or unknowingly. So one has to be romantic with himself first, we see everybody daily asks the mirror how he looks. Life is born out of romance, for romance always and keep the romance alive always. We in the so called civilized world make arrangements for our family members to continue to enjoy romance. Animals also romance and enjoy it to their brim but they are slightly better in the romantic behavior compared to the man and we the human beings despite the social restrictions want the same freedom for romance as the animals have.

Man is romantic from the day he is born and remains romantic most during his youth. How he can remain away from romance in his old age whether it is seventy, eighty or ninety. It is just impossible and fact is a man is always romantic till he merges with five elements of which he is created.

In fact consumption and romance are the two important aspects of our existence on the earth: of the two, romance is more important: need for consumption arises out of romance only.

Fact of the matter is that most of people consider romance as love for opposite sex. This is very limited and restricted meaning of romance. Even if it is so, romance is the essence of life and it has to be active rather more active in the old age when most of the oldies are alone for one reason or the other.

Relish love in your old age! Aged love is like aged wine; it becomes more satisfying, more refreshing, more valuable, more appreciated and more intoxicating!

Love for one’s spouse gives one the reason to live, to enjoy and it is a fact that the youth comes to everybody only once but goes out of life of those who are not in love with their spouse; others are always youthful. Spouse the most wonderful relation the society has created he walks with you whole life through thick and thin, enjoys and grieves along, produces off springs and rears them too  so both have to be romantic with each other explicitly and implicitly too.

Those who love deeply never grow old: they may die of old age but they die young.

                                                                    Benjamin Franklin

Romance is much deeper and wider than love, lust, physical attraction and sex. It is holy, pious, creative, godly, most humble and sophisticated act. It does not limit itself to one act or person. It is difficult rather impossible to think about the dimensions of romance. Very limited dimensions are known to common people also to those whom they consider wise.

Oldies in the evening of life, for obvious reasons, have limited dimensions to enjoy or express romance so far as physique is concerned but they open up other fields. Most commonly seen is that they are very quick to relate every event to what they created in their life earlier, they have the past and the narration takes them to days when they were active in the field of creation, it gives them joy they relish, so never stop them just listen even if it is repetitive, it is the question of romance for the oldies.

Physical love has some natural restrictions but its dimensions are innumerable so many of the oldies are lively and they enjoy sex in its variety, wisdom, expression, reach, occasion, time and physique too. They remain bubbling with life.  People say chemistry of male and female in a movie is wonderful, what is that chemistry: it simply means that they are behaving in the most natural way. Obviously all objects are made to behave in natural way, whenever the behavior is unnatural our senses are too quick to point it out. Oldies are no exception; they have to be natural in the behavior so far as the romance as ordinarily known is concerned, many a times people appreciate the love and romance between oldies: still there are many who in a sarcastic and contemptuous way call them “Tharky” in Punjabi language: such critics perhaps do not know that life and romance are two sides of the same coin of our existence on this planet.

Romance you may call it sex or love for the opposite sex in its limited meaning is a wonderful remedy to keep many diseases away particularly the stress and depression as it makes one mentally alert and physically active: gives one the plan to execute and a goal to reach. It helps to keep your heart healthy and blood pressure under control, gives good sleep after the act and some say it helps to ward off prostate problems also and builds and improves immunity. In fact it is tonic for physical and mental health.

Romance keeps one engaged always mentally that way it is mental exercise which so important for the persons who have spent their life in analyzing, preparing notes, examination of the proposals and problems, making suggestion to control and correct the ill situations as such romance  saves people from mental illness and still serious things like Parkinson.

Urge to create was present in the space, obviously much before the Universe was created and still being created and as soon as conditions were ripe enough it happened and Universe came into being. It is difficult to imagine the amount of bliss, solace, satisfaction, quench the power that created “urge to create” must have felt when it saw the Universe for the first time. Romance is that little amount of urge to create that has been showered by the powers in the Universe on the man and other creations. When the Creator Supreme got the bliss, solace and satisfaction out of urge to create, it is absolutely true that we his creations are bound to get at least a glimpse of these super things from romance. Sex is the most rude form of romance, however human beings experience it richly in their life time, they want again and again, reason being it has a trace of what the Supreme felt when Universe happened.

Refined forms of romance give you much more than that “trace”. It is impossible to enumerate the forms that romance can take. It is the intensity that matters most and it can be from the smallest or the tiniest happening, object or a thing. In addition to physical sex and past achievements, romance in old age can take countless forms. Most commonly romantic fields are cooking, the dish they prepare is extra-ordinary, routine they follow, literature writing of songs and poems, Internet browsing, listening music, develop liking for devotional songs, serving the society without being noticed- people go hospital and guide people to the correct facilities, charity and compassion, people are romantic even in keeping their homes and surrounding neat and clean and what not.

Sit quietly alone in a secluded place and try to recollect only the satisfaction, joy, happiness and solace you experienced when you were in the act. It is a difficult proposition; but not impossible, such an exercise is what meditation can do, an introduction to self.

Romance can never be suppressed it has to manifest itself in one way or the other, different ways for different persons at different times and situations: human beings temper that romantic behavior in tune with the social restrictions and consensual feeling with the object in view, this is attune with the behavior of the Supreme how long he waited before creation of the Universe perhaps billions of years.

Those who practice physical celibacy are always engaged in superlative forms of romance: different forms of art and literature, worship of the Lord, meditation, research, discoveries and inventions.

Creativity and innovations are the two most sought after and rewarded faculties of humans in this era of professional management. These faculties are not new; they exist from the day the humans were seen on this planet. But fact is that they are subordinate to romance: only those can be creative who are romantic.

Romance is a feeling that is bubbling always ready to explode, always aware and responsive to surroundings and feelings of others in accompany. Majority of the romantic people are extroverts always happy and make others feel goodness of the surroundings and possessions what one has.

Romance is a fountain of positivity and keeps one optimistic with increased immunity and improved wellness.

Romance, Romance and Romance

live

healthy, happy and longer.
